Built in 1951-52 by English Electric, Preston (UK) the De class Bo-Bo locomotive was the first diesel electric used on NZR mainlines. Glenbrook Vintage Railway bought this De in 1988. It has since been repainted into its original livery and bears both original number 507 and 8 in preservation.
