Thanks! Yes, there is only one train in this photo. After exiting the tunnel at the center-right part of the image the train curves to the left to climb up and over itself. This particular train is quite long, and the end has not yet passed through the tunnel. The locomotives are about to enter another tunnel below my location.

@jmadhavadas I had to check the series of photos I took that day. There were three locomotives leading the train. It is not clear from my photos if there were any locomotives at the rear of the train pushing, but I suspect there were.
I used to live near Denver and very close to the where the trains crossed the Rockies. It wasn't uncommon to see freight trains that were over 1 mile (1600 m) long.
