First six cars of the first doubledeck trainset for Aeroexpress

storyIn the "Au harbor" of Muttenz near Basel, the first six cars of the first doubledeck trainset for Aeroexpress (Moscow), built by Stadler Rail in Altenrhein/Switzerland, were loaded to the Rhine ship "Miranda", which will bring the train to Amsterdam. Then the six cars go with another ship to Mukran on Rügen/Germany, where the train is coupled together the first time in the harbor on a russian broad gauge track (1524 mm). Then it goes by railway ferry "Kaunas" to Klaipeda/Lithuania and by rail to the Stadler work in Minsk/Belarus for commisioning. In decembre 2014 the first train should be ready in Moscow for test runs. Stadler Rail will deliver a total of 25 trains, 9 with 6 cars and 16 with four cars. Only the first four trains will be built in Switzerland, the others in Minsk/Belarus. The 6 car trains will be 155 meter long, 3,4 meter width and 5,24 meter high, running up to 160 km/h with a maximum power of 5200 kW under 3000 V DC, on three different lines from Moscow to the airports of Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo. Here we see one of the about 26 meter long cab car hanging above the ship.
Very nice. Good story. The barge with the first train set was seen today in the Netherlands (Abcoude).
