The Makatote is still the highest bridge on the KiwiRail network in use by trains and is seen here having over $13 million of work done on it. Ab 608, dedicated a war memorial in 1925, hauled the Steam Inc Heartland Tour from Wellington to Auckland. 608 was restored for the centennial of ANZAC Day honoring Australian and NZ war veterans.
