The first train in New Zealand ran between Christchurch and Ferrymead on 01/12/1863. Steam Inc ran trains (Ja 1271 and Da 1431 hauled) between Paekakariki and Wellington to mark this anniversary. The official KiwiRail ceremony in Christchurch was a few weeks earlier. The train is about to enter the 4,3 Km long Tawa 2 tunnel which is the longest tunnel steam trains are allowed through.
