Amtrak operated Winter Park Express between Denver Union Station, Denver, Colorado, to Winter Park Ski Resort, Winter Park, Colorado, 7 January - 26 March 2017 on weekends and some Monday holidays. Train essentially replaced the Ski Train that last operated in March 2009. New Amtrak train patronage was impressive! Talks between Union Pacific, Amtrak and the Winter Park Ski Resort will determine if popular service continues in 2018. One factor in continuation is coal traffic is down on the Moffat Tunnel line.
