UP 9390 South leads a coal load to San Antonio, TX, near Paola.



Unfortunately for us photographers, UP has allowed trees and brush to grow right up to the edge of the roadbed for the last 20 years, making this scene impossible to get any more. One cannot even see the highway bridge in the background these days.
In the UK we suffer with the encroaching undergrowth and trees. Although there are areas now where embankments are being cleared. This work is now a necessity because of 'leaves on the line' with requires RHTT to run in the autumn period to clear the leaf residue from the rail head to stop wheel slip.
Yep, deferring maintenance on property to save money in the short term certainly has its costs in the long term.
