If I'd see this locomotive, I would say it's at least 40 years old. I understand that trains have to be very solid in India, but why do they look so old all the time?
@ddz7504 Indian Railways in not concerned about looks. Performance and power to haul 20-25 carriages, that is what matters. So looks that a back seat always. Recently some changes are happening as GE and Alstom have started manufacturing locos in India
@ddz7504 In addition to what I said above, when I am typing this message nearly 19,000 passenger trains are running in India along with equal number of freight trains. Normally an Express train will have 22-24 carriages transporting passengers equivalent to population of Australia and New Zealand together in a day. For such a national transport carrier, looks dont have any importance. It is the capacity that matters ...
