Otrozhka station

Seems like an odd place for people to be walking... Nice catch.
@Maersk.146 I believe those are sellers. This station is a kind of "technical" one: almost every passenger train stops there to change loco or crew. There're no passenger platforms and passengers are not allowed to board there. But sellers are everywhere offering fruits and wares through open windows and doors in coaches.
Thank you for the information, Yuri. This sort of activity is unheard of in the US, and indeed would earn these folks a trip to jail for trespassing here, most likely. The railroads have become very unfriendly since 9/11, even to potential allies, the trainspotters. 😞 Thanks for sharing!
@Maersk.146 Oh, really? That's a great pity. I am going to the US soon, and of course I wish to take some photos - but it seems I have to be careful with photography.

However, taking railroad photos in Russia is risky too - in fact it depends on where you take them. Some places are well known as "photographer's hell" because of too vigilant policemen 🙂. By the way, this station is one of such sites. I would never take pictures there, but I was safe inside my train.
Excellent! I hope you enjoy your visit to the USA. There are many places to photograph trains here, but do be sure to remain on public property and be safe.
