Interesting signal head up there. What does the square, hooded display tell the drivers? Thanks!
Further down the line is the junction to the container terminal so it can become quite busy with freight and passenger trains. For easy of operation the four running lines are by-directional, therefore more signals are needed and the hooded displays will have a one or two letters display to indicate the route that the signalman has set.
Thanks! The US railroads sometimes have additional signals to help route incoming trains also, but the practice and method varies by railroad.
