Built in 1915, 608 was dedicated in 1925 as a war memorial honoring over 400 railwaymen who did not return from World War I. Owned by New Zealand Railway & Locomotive Society, it is based at Steam Inc depot at Paekakariki. Both ocassions I have tried a photo at this location the sun went as the train approached.
