Class 476 is simillar with class 477, but the speed is maximum 120 km/h. It's a modernised version of class 40, without modifying the transmisson. The power output, IGBT controlls, cabs, board computers etc. are the same like at class 477. Now there are 4 locomotives of this type in service: one at CFR Călători, 2 at Unifertrans (179 and 531) and one at Rompetrol Logistics (555). The locomotive for Rompetrol was modernised for Unifertrans (and painted in their livery), but they hadn't enough money, so Softronic sold the locomotive to Rompetrol.
The swithces were manually cleaned of snow... the rest of the station was "cleaned" by the trains. However, many routes were closed those days because the snow blocked the switches (yes, we have a lot of manual switches, even on main lines). Also, most of the snow-ploughs were not able to be used. However, only the state railways had problems... the private companies that had only small delays, none of their trains was cancelled. On the "private railways" (routes rented to private companies), they put all the employees at work with shovels.
Great shot, wenn there is snow in the Netherlands for like one day. The whole country is one big chaos, I don't know why, but even if there is 5 cm of snow...
