@trainspotter - Yes, Amtrak must turn the locos to face ahead, so that either one can lead during their trip if the other fails. They are starting to wear out and need to be replaced, but Amtrak can never get enough funding to do so. Do you know where they can find about $180 million to buy 300 new EMD F125 units or Siemens Chargers?
