Flagship of the Uzbekistan Railways

storyFlagship of the Uzbekistan Railways, high speed EMU from Talgo 250 family. Train runs daily between Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, providing fast and comfortable link between the capital and two largest cities in Uzbekistan, which are main tourist destinations at the same time. "Afrosiyob" is a name of an ancient city, which was located where modern Samarkand stands now.

It's still strictly prohibited to take pictures on railway platforms, inside station buildings, etc. in Uzbekistan, but I couldn't help taking this photo. They seem to make exclusion for tourists posing with Afrosiyob, or I was just lucky to remain unnoticed by the police.

"Safety first" is not just words in Uzbekistan. You won't be able even to approach a station without your passport and ticket. Once you get through multiple scanners and checkpoints, you should check-in for your ride, pretty similar to airport check-in. You'll get a special stamp on your ticket, and won't be admited on board without such a stamp. Check-in closes 30 minutes before the departure time.
Cool!
Appreciate your efforts getting this image. Sounds like overkill security at Uzbekistan Railway stations. Glad they let the tourist ride. Hope you can share more images in the future.
