@jmadhavadas
Interlock cabins like these too are a rarity these days

@Akhilsanjeev90 @jmadhavadas Nice. The magnificent semaphores at Barnetby were removed only a few months ago, and are now all LED signals.

This unusual "traffic light" is at Darmstadt main station. I have seen it hundreds of times, but only took a photo yesterday inspired by this thread.

@Taurus717 @Akhilsanjeev90 I think these are brake control lamps for communication between the conductor and the driver . Top light, brakes show on. Top two lights, brakes show off. All three lights, brakes as expected. They would be controlled by the conductor for the driver and would indicate the condition seen in the last wagon of the train.

Racing the storm. Last Friday (13th May) this ICE raced the storm and heads into clearer weather. Within minutes the electric storm went overhead, causing me to take cover and then give up for the day. The weather is due to improve in a couple of days, so I will be able to get out and about again.

@jmadhavadas Thanks. I have a thing about the station clocks. Wherever possible I include them in the shot. In this one I got two.

Jayasankar Madhavadas

@Astro Yes..I just noticed it ...nice

@jmadhavadas I prefer this one 🙂 These cross-border expresses no longer run here, having stopped in December last year. The locomotive is able to run on German, French and Luxembourg systems. Now they are reduced to working empty stock movements and one sleeper service. It is a shame. I find them awesome.

TALGO conducts trials between New Delhi - Mumbai & Mumbai - New Delhi... Result is 3 hours of travelling time reduced

avatar
Mikhail Ter

@jmadhavadas it was reduced due to schedule changes or due to any technical reasons?
avatar
Jayasankar Madhavadas

@ter The time reduction was due to increased speed by Talgo. Talgo coaches touched 180kmph easily with a WAP-5 locomotive in lead . But there were halted in between due to heavy rains. Overall Indian Railways were happy with Talgo and Talgo used the existing rails of IR only

A very sad day, and a town remembered for what went wrong. Aberfan was another blighted by industrial incompetance. Mr. Dastagir was an unselfish and brave man.

@jmadhavadas One of the SD60M Tri-Clops, complete with modern control desk, instead of the older control stand next to the engineer's seat. These new desk controls were not universally popular among crews.

Hermosa Tunnel/Tie Siding area, all set up for an eastbound or two...

Of course, all we see are westbounds through the tunnels...

At least we got to tour the UP Steam Shops and saw the 4014 being rebuilt.

Can hardly wait for May 2019, when it will run again for the first time since July 1959!

@Maersk.146 Beautiful place
avatar
Maersk.146

@jmadhavadas Yes, not bad, though access to the river is very limited. The Missouri has flood-control levees along much of its course and the US Army Corps of Engineers restricts traffic over and near them rather jealously. An occasional boat ramp is about the only way to see the river up close.
